Sports Ministry Personnel

The Position

We are searching for experienced coaches (preferably basketball and soccer) who would manage and expand the growing Next Gen sports outreaches. Past outreaches have shown that sports are one of the most successful ways for us to meet and build relationships with youth and their families. They would be responsible for organizing and operating the weekly sports programs, as well as special outreaches.

The Need

Archbishop Desmond Tutu first called South Africa the “Rainbow Nation” due its diverse population. In terms of religious diversity, every major religion is represented (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and others.) But among the Christian population there is significant and sustained syncretism with traditional African religions, and the need for sound biblical theology.

Additionally, the AIDS virus continues to take a brutal toll in South Africa. Very few families are unaffected by this deadly disease. The local church needs to be resourced to step into these hurting lives with hope.

ABWE has teams serving in three major South African cities: Cape Town, Durban and George. All three of the teams are working in multiple church plants in their areas, with the objective to plant reproducing, multi-cultural congregations led by national pastors and leaders.

Is the Lord leading you to learn a new culture, live among a new people group, and share the gospel in South Africa?

The Impact

Use your passion for sports and community outreach to make an eternal impact. From starting football teams to connect with local men, to opening a coffee shop ministry to reach university students, we know that sports and community outreach ministries start conversations and open doors to share God’s game-changing love.

Due to COVID-19, travel requirements for trips originating from the US vary by location. To learn more, contact us at go@abwe.org. We’d love to talk to you!
