Opportunity

Coffee Shop Manager

The Position

Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 crisis, ABWE is limiting international travel of short-term missionaries originating from the US and assessing the level of risk per country per US State Department guidelines. To inquire about travel restrictions or exceptions, please contact go@abwe.org. We would love to talk to you!

With two coffee shops operating in Kumamoto prefecture and another ready to go in Miyazaki prefecture, there is an opportunity for an enterprising couple to support ongoing outreach in a unique ministry. The coffee shops provide a place for bible studies as well as many new contacts.

The ideal coffee shop manager is outgoing and creative, able to manage the day to day operation of the shop as well as coordinate events with the church.

The Need

Most Japanese people have never met a Christian, seen a Bible, and do not know about Jesus. In fact, just two percent of Japan's 128 million people claim to be Christians. In the future, there is risk for half of the existing Christian churches to close their doors, as Japanese pastors are aging and without replacements due to the increasingly agnostic and secular younger generation. The missionary presence continues to dwindle as well.

We need teammates with fresh ideas, deep relationship-building skills, and perseverance regardless of how fruitful the results may appear. ABWE would like to grow the team in Tokyo, and is seeking missionaries equipped for church planting, ministry to the deaf community, and teaching English as a second language. These valuable evangelistic skills can build bridges into Japan’s communities. Will you press on toward that goal with us?

The Impact

Use your business mind to change hearts. At ABWE, we use small businesses to reach communities with Christ’s love by giving jobs and skills to people in need. From a bag factory to a sewing ministry, these unique business ministries are reaching entire communities and enabling us to disciple workers and share the gospel in areas of the world where Jesus’ name is widely unknown. We need innovative, business-minded people who are passionate about reaching others for Christ.
