Compelling Opportunities or Field Team Needs Are Important
As the internet has become people’s first stop for information, a growing number of people are finding ABWE for the first time through our website, and some people’s first “invitation” to join an ABWE team are our website’s Opportunities. This means that these write-ups have the potential to play a crucial role in inspiring someone to follow their call into missions.
To help us better inspire prospective missionaries to take the first step of contacting us, we have created an easy guide to help you write more compelling, inviting, and thorough opportunity posts. We want our posted opportunities to be more than just informative; we want them to be personal and compelling invitations from you as their future teammate. Thank you for helping us inspire more laborers to join in the harvest!
Principles for Creating Compelling Opportunity Write-Ups
- Be down to earth, friendly, and conversational. Remember you’re talking to a real person who is thinking about giving their life to missions. This isn’t just a classified ad.
- Ditch the acronyms and don’t be afraid to show a sense of humor or personal touch.
- Keep content concise, clear, and succinct. Use bullets when appropriate, but give enough information to help them understand what their role would be.
- Use inclusive language. Use words like us, we, you, etc.
- Use more casual words. For example, say “plenty” instead of “numerous” and “use” instead of “utilize.”
- Proofread. Proper grammar and spell checking are still important.
