Timothy and Leandra Hawes - GBBC and Ministry

Papua New Guinea

Goroka Baptist Bible College (GBBC)

Goroka Baptist Bible College exists in Papua New Guinea to train tomorrow's Christian leaders today. We offer Bachelor degrees in both Christian Education and Biblical Studies, and currently have 60 students enrolled in our programs with over 400 graduates out across the country. It costs GBBC $1,800 per student per year. Many of these students are coming from an agrarian life style in the village, which makes it difficult to pay for their education. We have a goal to raise $1,000 per student or $60,000 for the year.

Public School Bible Clubs

GBBC not only exists to train students academically, but also give them practical experience in the ministry. One of these avenues is Bible clubs in the local public schools. We are currently involved in four public schools where the students are teaching; one school alone has eight clubs with over 800 students attending. It costs about $150 a week to run these clubs.
