PACT Romania Ministry Center

Romania

The word pact implies promise and peace and is used when a good relationship exists. PACT Romania is a place where good relationships are formed. A place for needy people to escape the crowded city and encounter their Creator in the beauty of his creation. A setting where Romanian children, teens, and adults experience the love of Jesus, trust him, and serve him.

Why the new name? Our previous name, Romania Ministry Center, did not translate very well. But a pact implies relationship, promise, and peace - in both English and Romanian. The name PACT is an acronym for Poiana Argesului Conferinte si Tabere. Translated roughly, it is Pastures of Arges for Camps & Training. Our new name is PACT. The word pact signifies healthy relationships, and we care about relationships.

In Romania many relationships are broken. Religion is ritualistic and without hope. When marriages crumble children get hurt. Young adults are lonely, skeptical, and searching. Some churches are proclaiming love and hope in Jesus Christ, but there is a shortage of pastors and leaders.

The Reception Building will transform PACT Romania because this is our first building. Currently, our twenty-two acres of land are used as a base camp for tent and backpack adventures in the Fagaras Mountains. The addition of a kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms will radically change the experience for every person. Our ministry calendar will expand and fill the entire year.

Presently, our location is undeveloped. Tent camping is the only overnight option with all water carried in and all meals cooked over a fire. For many people, this style is appealing, but our current situation significantly limits the number of participants and the seasons when ministries can happen.

The Reception Building is a place where people feel welcome. Whether its tasty meals, clean showers, comfortable beds, or hot cocoa beside a warm fireplace, after physical needs are satisfied guests are more receptive to relational and spiritual growth.

The Reception building is two levels and about 2,000 square feet in size. The main level kitchen and bathrooms are essential for the hundreds of campers who will participate at summer camps. As cooler weather arrives, the upstairs meeting room and two bedrooms are perfect for retreats and training events. Both levels have ramp access and barrier free bathrooms.

The cost for this building is $110,000. Local contractors are required for some aspects of construction. Volunteer work teams will also be involved. Plans have been developed by our Romanian architect. We are praying and planning for groundbreaking in 2021.

Thank you for helping to create a place where Romanian children, youth, and adults will feel welcome and receptive to God’s work in their lives. Your generosity will have eternal impact.

The Romania Team is thankful for your involvement.
