"Changing the future of theological education today"

Resounding calls from churches around the world claim that the advancement of the gospel, including the planting and maturing of churches, requires trained leadership. These voices note that at least 85% of the pastors who are leading them have little or no theological education. Moreover, recent global challenges such as COVID, socio-political turmoil, religious persecution, war, and limited funding are challenging the viability of traditional, campus-based models of theological education. Digital technologies have provided new opportunities for the people of God to partner together in training leaders for the sake of the gospel.

Overcoming Barriers through Technology

New technologies are erasing old barriers, extending the possibilities of ministry training to places of need around the globe. Cross-national ministry training occurs through shared languages across geographic boundaries. Underground schools in at-risk places are acquiring critical resources to sustain ministry. Bible colleges and seminaries around the world are finding new ways to extend ministry training while lowering overall costs. New online and educational technologies provide access to ministry training while allowing Christian leaders to remain within the contexts of their local ministries.

Fostering Global Partnerships

Horizon exists to meet the needs of seminaries and theological institutions around the world, and yet we recognize that this task is bigger thanStrategic_Services.jpg what we can accomplish on our own. Horizon has determined to invest in the training of church and ministry leaders by investing in the theological schools and training organizations that are equipping them. We believe this multiplication strategy enhances the effectiveness of every other investment. Thus, Horizon seeks to assist its partners in the development of culturally appropriate and sustainable approaches to theological education and leadership training. To accomplish this, we come alongside partners to help them build local capacity to meet these challenges by offering strategic services.
