Caleb & Hannah Johansson

South Africa

Hannah’s prayer was to return to Guatemala as a missionary. She had been adopted from Guatemala at age five and placed into a Christian family with 12 siblings. At age seven, while Hannah was helping her mother sort through Sunday school materials, Hannah asked how to become a Christian.

After coming to Christ, she told God that she wanted to work in an orphanage and teach English in Guatemala. Her prayer was answered at age 19 through a short-term trip.

Caleb also grew up in a Christian family, but his faith didn’t become real until a high school missions trip to New Zealand. Though originally he simply wanted to see the place where “The Lord of the Rings” was filmed, as God worked in his heart, his passion for the lost deepened.

He returned and enrolled in a Bible school program, where he met Hannah. Caleb and Hannah plan to help local churches in South Africa develop and strengthen youth ministries. They are currently serving in their local church in various capacities. Caleb leads a Bible Study for the church every week and is involved in reaching out and ministering to the local Mormon community. As a family, they are in talks about helping start a Classical Christian School in their community to help aid the discipleship of youth there.

Please pray for Caleb and Hannah as they seek to be faithful during this time of preparing to go to South Africa. As they prepare to go to South Africa and raise the needed support, they know that this time is not a waste and God can and is using them to impact their community here. Their goal is to be in South Africa sometime next year, so please pray that God will raise up the support they need to reach that goal. Please also pray for the Bible Study Caleb leads, the outreach to Mormons, and the potential starting of a Classical Christian School.
