Simanyene Center for the Disabled – Caregivers

South Africa

The Position

The Simanyene Center for the Disabled in Cape Town, South Africa, is looking for adult caregivers who are kind, patient, loving, and have a heart for children and adults who are less fortunate and have physical and intellectual disabilities. Caregivers at Simanyene help with the everyday tasks of teaching, feeding, mobilizing, having fun and loving the disabled children and young adults who attend the Center. A care home is currently being built to provide 24-hour care to children and young adults from the center, which means additional caregivers are critically needed.

The Need

South Africa is very behind in caring for the needs of the disabled. The schools and special care centers that do exist are full, leaving many children at home alone with no schooling or additional training whatsoever, especially in the impoverished communities. The government simply cannot handle the need. Waiting lists to get into special schools can take years. The Simanyene Center provides for children who come from an impoverished community with little to no help. The Center caters to 22 children/young adults with disabilities and is in need of additional caregivers to help.

The Impact

Simanyene Center for the Disabled exists to glorify God by supporting children and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. The Center is a ministry of Simanyene Bible Church. Our mission is to help each individual reach their full, God-given potential.
