Opportunity

School Coordinator

The Position

Our Togo team at The Village of Light, a school for the blind, needs an experienced and committed school coordinator who loves working directly with people. You’ll direct a diverse team of staff members and nationals, using your business and communications skills. You’ll also set an excellent example by shining the light of Christ’s love in a community that craves compassion, truth and justice.

As school coordinator, you will:

  • Bring your practical business experience to Togo, and provide a team of missionaries and nationals with the specific directives they need to operate a multi-business ministry
  • Have the skill-set to smoothly manage diverse operations, including a school for the blind, an aquaponics system, a ministry to the blind and an artisan boutique, as well as perform other leadership roles
  • Work effectively with Togolese government and community leaders by using sound communications skills and a heart filled with compassion
  • Understand that the visually impaired make up 20 percent of Togo’s population, and appreciate that these Togolese are often abandoned or looked down upon by others in their communities
  • Bring the determination and patience to succeed, and live an authentically Christian lifestyle
The Need

Togo is a small West African country, home to just over eight million people who make up at least 46 unique people groups, including many that are unreached with the saving knowledge of the gospel. Despite the prominent population of Christians (45%) and growth in followers of Islam (16%), over half of the Togolese syncretize native animistic practices and beliefs with their primary religion. Help is needed to advance the gospel, particularly among the younger generation.

Ministry opportunities in Togo have grown tremendously, and have even created a platform for outreach into neighboring countries. Whether through healthcare, education, providing Christian resources through print media and radio, or working with the growing local church to equip the next generation of national believers, there is an place for every missional skill set. Is God leading you to join us in ministry to the people of Togo?

The Impact

Imagine the impact you can make in Togo as part of the Village of Light, especially once you witness a student embrace the love of God. ABWE has worked in Togo for over 40 years, and God has given us an open door into this community, where you’ll find our graduates working in schools, government and private enterprise. As a coordinator at the Village of Light, you'll have the opportunity to change the spiritual lives of so many Togolese and their family members. Will you join us?

Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 crisis, ABWE is limiting international travel of short-term missionaries originating from the US and assessing the level of risk per country per US State Department guidelines. To inquire about travel restrictions or exceptions, please contact go@abwe.org. We would love to talk to you!
