English Teachers

The Position

Did you know that you can use your God-given communication talents as a missionary? Join us in Slovakia, where there is a tremendous need for English education and relationship building. Our church planting team has worked for more than 15 years to bring the truth to Slovakia, where people are just recovering from decades of religious repression and Communist rule. We need committed Christians with a talent for education to join us in Slovakia.

As an English teacher, you will:

  • Bring experience and outstanding communication skills to your work in the classroom, where you’ll develop the relationships that will lead to discussions about faith in God
  • Set an excellent example by living an authentically Christian lifestyle, and share your personal testimony
  • Translate biblical texts into Slovakian so that nationals can understand the teachings of Scripture without struggling
  • Collaborate with a close-knit community of team members who share a love for Christ and a passion for missions work
  • Help church community members plant the seeds that will become new churches
The Need

The oppression of Communism stifled religious freedom in Slovakia for over 40 years. Christian persecution and repression discouraged Slovakians from developing a personal relationship with God. Today, there is religious freedom but the influence of the past remains strong. With nearly 5.5 million nationals in Slovakia, only 0.2 percent identify as evangelical.

The Impact

Use your love for language to share the gospel. At ABWE, we want to make sure the words of Jesus are clearly understood in every culture. From Scripture translation to resource development, our translation ministries are bringing the message of the gospel to people and cultures around the world. We need qualified, creative people who are passionate about working with languages to reach others for Christ.
