Assistant Community Church Leader

United States

The Position

The church planting team in Wilkes-Barre, PA, is looking for a long-term community group leader to help with their thriving church plant. This person must be able to meet the qualifications laid out in 1 Timothy 3:2, have a love for people, and be ready to make an investment in the lives of others.

The Need

Although the US has long been the leader in sending missionaries overseas for decades, there is an urgent need for the gospel at home. Less than 18 percent of Americans attend church on a given weekend, there are more than 80 distinct unreached people groups living within the US, and if all of America’s unchurched people were their own country, it would be the eighth most populous nation in the world.

At ABWE we want to change that. We’re using decades of missions experience to help local churches in the US train members to become cross-cultural disciple makers and church planters. Will you join us?

The Impact

Use your skills to help fulfill the Great Commission. As Christians, Jesus has called us to go and make disciples of all nations, and we believe that process is not completed until these disciples are gathered into a local community of believers: a church. Church planting is the heartbeat of evangelism, and it is at the core of who we are at ABWE. It is demanding work, but for those called to the challenge, there is no greater reward on earth than watching a community of believers grow in their faith and begin to understand their own role in the Great Commission.
