Ministering to the Families of Those Who Are Called

Making the choice to serve the Lord as a missionary involves great personal sacrifice. But it also involves sacrifice for the parents and grandparents who are left behind. The Parents of Missionaries (POM) ministry exists to come alongside the missionary by offering support, resources, and events that address the specific challenges faced by parents of missionaries.

Walking the Journey Together

It brings joy when our children desire to serve the Kingdom of God with their whole lives. Yet it can often be very difficult for parents to process the reality of their children and grandchildren being hundreds or thousands of miles away. While couples will process this news differently, every parent will face the challenging emotions that come with having a son or daughter on the mission field.

At ABWE, we want you to know that you do not face this challenge alone. We are here to help you through this process, as you entrust your children into the hands of our loving God.

Meet Dan and Amy

Dan and Amy W represent the Member Care
department at ABWE and began the POM Ministry in the fall of 2021. Lifelong public educators, their lives were changed when their daughter, son in-law, and only grandchildren left to serve as missionaries in a Muslim country “far far away.” Through their experience, God gave them a passion to develop a support ministry for parents of missionaries.
