Job Summary/Primary Role: The Digital Engagement Specialist supports the objectives and goals of the ABWE’s Communications and Engagement Department and exists to create compelling and first-in-class digital user experiences. This role assists in shaping how ABWE and its Global Family of Ministries is presented visually throughout its digital properties and how our digital constituents participate with the organization (e.g. websites, landing pages, social media platforms, apps, etc.). This position will be expected to apply the current best practices in UX design, leading to a conversion-centered experience at various entry points that serve the organization’s acquisition goals. This includes understanding, designing, building, and reporting on acquisition funnels, while producing web assets, including tracking analytics, and providing performance reporting on campaign initiatives. This individual will collaborate on web strategy and user journeys, monitor and pivot campaigns based on performance analytics, and assist with other projects as assigned based on capacity and capability. The ideal candidate has extensive digital marketing experience, understands acquisition funnels, and is passionate about user-friendly digital experiences. Most of all, this person has a passion for advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ and approaches digital engagement as a tool to engage those interested in participating in the mission and ministry of ABWE.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understands constituents needs and pain points and develops digital experiences to increase engagement, revenue, conversion, and retention for the organization.
  • Obtains and analyzes website analytics, usage statistics, A/B testing, and user feedback to inform design and other marketing decisions.
  • Manages website content, acquisition activations, and marketing campaigns including content pages, in-take forms, and content fulfillment.
  • Able to work with data management teams to create and maintain clean audience data.
  • Segments audiences, creates audience workflows, and provides proper attribution for future activation needs.
  • Includes proper tracking and performance data parameters within campaigns and can provide strong campaign reporting on all digital marketing campaign channels.
  • Assists in developing social, ad, web, email, and video content oriented to conversion as needed.
  • Creates visual designs, including original artwork and illustrations, graphics, banners, and other design elements for the ministry's digital properties.
  • Manages content management systems, including installation of widgets and plugins and customization of templates.
  • Responsible for testing websites and prototypes to ensure maximum usability, browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and optimal load time.
  • Responsible for the creation of task and project deliverables including, but not limited to visual designs, HTML/CSS code, functional specifications, and style guides.
  • Creates variations of code and designs to allow for multivariate testing, keeping the best possible constituent experiences in mind.
  • Works closely with other designers (internal and third-party), digital communications strategists, content creators, web developers, and marketing specialists to deliver consistent results.
  • Analyzes successes and failures of content, evaluating trends of donor responses.
  • Presents deliverables and results to internal teams.
  • Researches industry best practices and user behavior to inform design decisions, and keeps up to date with emerging technologies.
  • Seeks training to build new skills.
  • Proofreads to produce accurate and high-quality work.
  • Assists in acquisition and engagement campaign ideation, development, and execution.
  • Participates and collaborates in planning and ideation sessions.
  • Writes copy and assists with visual design and other content as needed, coordinating with other ministries and departments and filtering through security and approval protocol as needed.


  • Ability to pass background check and all necessary clearances as mandated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in digital/email marketing, copywriting, social media management, or related field.
  • Demonstrated, outstanding writing, and editing skills and light design work for campaign needs.
  • Experience and knowledge in identifying target audiences and writing campaign messages based on that knowledge for maximum results and impact.
  • Strong technology skills: extensive expertise with communication and performance tracking software is required (WordPress, Google Analytics, MailChimp, Zapier, social media platforms and associated suites/workspaces, etc.). Knowledge in Drupal is a plus.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and jump quickly from one to the next. Experience working within a project management-oriented setting is a plus.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Digital/Visual Communications or related field required.
