Job Summary/Primary Role:

The Communications Specialist/Digital Media Marketer serves on a team of content creators and marketing minds who support ABWE’s internal and external communication and marketing initiatives.

These initiatives include our award-winning Message magazine and online blog, podcast, on-going SEO management, and ABWE’s corporate website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, etc.).

This role also supports the team’s efforts to provide strategy, design and implementation for capital campaigns, fundraising appeals, organizational initiatives, training resources and recruitment materials; and messaging and implementation for all major donor and corporate communications.

The Communications Specialist/Digital Media Marketer will help craft, edit, design, build, manage, share, and coordinate the organization’s words, brands, vision, and stories.

This may mean developing content for ads, magazines, blogs and brochures; making and editing videos; building and maintaining websites; or creating email blasts, PowerPoint slides, and mass mailings.

Beyond generating written and visual content, this role assists the Director of Strategic Communications in project management for departmental initiatives, and in gathering data on user engagement and response, ROI, and analytics.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or other related field is required.
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience in marketing, multimedia, journalism, public relations or related field is preferred.
  • Having a solid understanding in the areas of copywriting, marketing, videography, photography, design, SEO, branding or social media are all valuable skills for this role. We understand most people won’t be experts in all these areas, so we’re ultimately looking for a skilled communicator who is a quick learner, critical thinker and self-initiator.
  • Demonstrated outstanding story-telling skills and “news sense.”
  • Ability to create communications and marketing materials that consider audience and format to maximize effectiveness.
  • Detail-oriented with proven project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills; familiarity with Adobe Suite, Drupal, MailChimp, and Google Analytics is a plus.
  • Ability to encourage sharing of stories and information.
  • Have a passion for our mission and a strong desire to impact the growth of an effective nonprofit organization.
  • Have a very high level of personal and professional integrity, trustworthiness, a strong work ethic and require minimal direction, work well independently as well as part of a team and thrive in a fast-paced and fun environment.
