Papua New Guinea is one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth. But its picturesque mountains and lush jungles cannot mask this island nation’s ugly dark side.
Many inhabitants believe the spirits of their ancestors control the world and can be appeased through dark rituals, animal sacrifices, and even murder. But in the face of this deep-seated evil, God is calling the people of Papua New Guinea to himself and they are hearing.
Over the past 40 years, Goroka Baptist Bible College has equipped more than 400 national believers to become church planters and church leaders. These graduates have gone out to share the hope of Christ and planted more than 100 churches throughout the nation, freeing people from the chains of spirit worship and creating an explosion of people wanting to study God’s word — more people than the college has room for.
Will You help?
We are praying to raise an initial $280,000 for vital infrastructure updates so we can begin to expand the college campus with additional facilities, classrooms, and housing. Our goal is to incrementally increase the number of students from 70 to 200 over the next five-to-ten years, so we can give more eager believers the opportunity to be discipled.
Some specific needs in 2017 within the target goal of $280,000 include:
1. $20,000 to finish building the GBBC staff house. ($35,000 is needed, but $15,000 has already been raised.)
2. $10,000 to finish building cement ditches for water drainage at GBBC.
3. $225,000 to build married student housing. Fifteen houses which cost $15,000 are needed and will be built as the money is raised.
