Elluminate

The Edge Seminar webcasts will be delivered through Elluminate, a free software interface that you will need to download and install.

Instructions for configuring Elluminate on your computer

Elluminate will allow you to interact with a seminar moderator and with other students who are online. You’ll also be able to present your questions to the seminar presenter.

Webcast Participation Options

Elluminate offers a variety of ways in which you can participate in Edge Seminars.

  1. Individual Option: You can participate as an individual in the webcasts. The seminar will be delivered to your computer, and you can interact with other online students, as well as the seminar webcast moderator. You can pass your questions along to the seminar leader through the webcast moderator.

  2. Hosted Group Option: You can host a group of missionaries or nationals in your home to participate in the seminars together—sort of a “Super Bowl party” kind of fellowship-instruction setting.

  3. Online Discussion Group Option: You can be grouped with other students into an online moderated breakout room. For example, your entire field team can participate together in a breakout room that is moderated by a field team leader or other designated group leader.

    EXAMPLE: All members of the Central America and Caribbean field team can participate in the seminar together even though they are, at the time, scattered throughout their region. They will be able to interact with each other, under the direction of an appointed moderator, and discuss the implications of the seminar for their regional needs.

  4. Delayed Viewing Options: If your time zone makes it difficult for you to participate in the seminars in “real time,” the webcast files will be available later for delayed viewing. But Edge session files will not be posted until an hour or so after the session has concluded.

Registration

There is a $10 registration fee (per each of the Edge Seminars) required to receive the seminar webcasts, either in real time or the delayed webcast files. If, however, you are in a Hosted Group (see option 2 above), the only person who is required to pay the registration fee is the person receiving the webcast stream.
