Dr. Al Cockrell is the founding pastor of the Tri-City Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO and Tri-City Christian Schools. Later he served as the Senior Pastor of Temple Heights Baptist Church in Tampa, FL. During his time there, a sports outreach ministry was established where hundreds of young men and women came to know Christ as savior. Al has also been a Senior Consultant with John Maxwell’s organization, Injoy Stewardship Services, working with churches to assist them in leadership development, capitalization of their physical plants, and vision casting.
In March 2000 he assumed the pastorate of The Chapel in East Amherst, NY. Recognizing that the congregation’s average age was well over 50, Al began the process of establishing ministries that would attract young adults which included adding younger personnel to the existing staff. Upon his retirement in September of 2006, the church was averaging 4000 in weekly attendance.
His present ministry includes consulting with churches, particularly in the area of identifying skill set needs of staff members and strategic planning which supports the overall vision of the church.
