Major Ministries: Church Planting

Country Profile

View in Google Maps

After nearly fifty years of experience in evangelism overseas, ABWE developed a church planting program for the USA. Rev. Norman A. Nicklas has directed this growing ministry since 1983.

The Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ demands a strategy for reaching all lost people. This involves the establishment of growing, discipling, reproducing Baptist Churches in every state.

Spiritually mature churches must be developed in every community. In this way, every person will have the opportunity to hear the gospel in his heart language, and see it demonstrated by his friends. He will then be confronted with the necessity of accepting Christ as Savior. Following conversion, he must be baptized and become a maturing disciple in the local church.

ABWE-USA focuses on the establishment of reproducing Baptist churches that are centers for evangelism and world missions. Through careful study and dependence upon the leading of the Holy Spirit, the missionary develops a long range growth strategy. He employs effective, appropriate, well-planned methods to bring into existence strong growing churches. These churches are developed to have a missionary vision for reaching the USA and world for Christ.

Church planting demands adequate preparation. ABWE-USA is looking for couples who are willing to commit themselves to becoming church planting specialists. To plant a church is to invade enemy territory; it is a frontal attack on the devil. Internships and other special training programs help prepare each couple or team of couples to develop their full potential.

Since its inception, ABWE-USA has seen more than 50 growing Baptist churches established and strengthened. Churches have been planted among Hispanic, Laotian, and Filipino populations. We are praying for more church planters to build churches among other ethnic communities. By reaching the USA, we are helping to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

Pray for USA

January 30, 2012
Steve and Jo Ann Carter

  • “We are approaching the one-year mark since our move here to Pueblo West. It has been a joy to be a part of a growing ministry and so many good things are happening among the people we are working with and ministering to. JoAnn has a severe non-allergic rhinitis that flares up when the humidity goes up, the temperature goes low, and/or low pressure systems come through. Our 11 years in Tucson provided the best possible climate for her, so we knew she probably would not do as well here. That has proven to be true, and the winter has become the more difficult time of our first year. She is up and busy most days, but often does not sleep well and is wearing down as a result. So, we thank you for your interest and prayers for her in that regard.”
