Strengths
- Impact of live from-the-heart presentation
- Flexibility: used easily in small class settings or large auditoriums; can be customized for the audience & time allotment by adding or removing transparencies
- Easy to carry and equipment is easy to set up
- Use in a fully lighted room
Production Time
Missionary's time:
- Planning a thematic presentation
- Sketching a simple drawing of each transparency
- Acquiring and select pictures & other graphics
Media Department Time:
- (1:1) 1 hour per each minute of the final presentation time (at a rate of 1 transparency per 1 minute of presentation)
Missionary time in Harrisburg: Maximum of 5 days; in some cases none,
if advanced planning is thorough and instructions are explained clearly
Weaknesses
- Lacks the impact of moving & sound supported images
- Some auditorium screens are difficult to use with OH projectors
- Speaker support presentation: requires live presentation each time
Costs
Production:
- $10.00 for each transparency (including material and creative work)
- $1.25 for each transparency protector
- $150 estimated cost for average 15 minute presentation with 15 transparencies
Equipment:
- $550 for portable 4000 lumens projector
- $250, if an automatic transparency changer is used
- $150 for portable screen, if you opt to take a screen with you
