An Opportuni-TEA
It is believed by many historians that tea was introduced to Europe by a Spaniard missionary in the mid-1600s. Now about 450 years later, ABWE missionaries are hosting tea parties in restricted access countries as a way to create opportunities to share the gospel with Muslim women.
Recently, eleven ladies, representing eight different nations, gathered for tea on the Arabian Peninsula. While the ladies enjoyed female companionship, they discussed the differences of their lives and cultures. This tea party was an exciting opportunity for the missionary hostess, known to be a Christian, but for security reasons not known as a missionary.
One of the invited guests asked the missionary hostess questions about home schooling, because she is thinking about educating her own children in this way. The missionary was pleasantly surprised by the opportunity to tell her friend about the curriculum her family uses, which offers a broad worldview of history and a plan for her children to learn from the Bible and develop a foundation for what they believe and why.
The missionary hostess writes, “It is wonderful to have this opportunity to deepen relationships. The process is slow, but I continue to move forward even if it is just baby steps. Continue to remember these ladies in prayer.”
