Hurricane Katrina Project: Help the Shepherds

September 7 , 2005

In the aftermath of last year’s tsunami, we discovered that the best helpers to distribute relief goods and minister to the grieving and broken people were pastors, believers, and Christian leaders from the region. They fed, clothed, and housed scores of refugees. Most importantly, they shared the love and compassion of Jesus and gave people hope by explaining the good news of the gospel. These local believers are there for the long run and have been real problem solvers, helping families face the future with a practical plan of how to rebuild their lives.

ABWE is committed to a vital partnership with local churches and we believe that pastors and local churches are a major source of help for the weary and scattered people of the Gulf Coast. We have been in contact with dozens of these shepherds, and they need our prayers and financial help.

If you desire to help those affected by Katrina to find a good shepherd, designate your relief monies to Project: Help the Shepherds. We will see that your gift is placed in the hands of a trusted pastor, where we believe it will do the most good.
