Donna Messenger Honored as GRTS Alumnus of the Year
On March 21, 2007, during a chapel service at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, Donna Messenger was honored as Alumnus of the Year. Don Messenger (Donna’s father), Pastor and Mrs. David Lamb from her sending church, and many of her friends were in attendance. Following the award ceremony, Dr. Don Denyes of South Church in Lansing, Michigan, presented a message on what it means to be a lifelong learner.
After the chapel, a reception was held in honor of Donna, and a luncheon was provided and attended by Dr. Doug Fagerstrom, president of Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, Dr. Rex Rogers, president of Cornerstone University, and Noe Palacios, executive director of the Lifelong Learning Center.
What drives Donna is her love for the Lord. A verse she claims is Psalm 37:4: “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will plant within your heart the proper desire.” Donna demonstrates the qualities and character of a lifelong learner. She has committed herself to the lifelong mission of growing in her understanding of Christian faith and values, and their application to the changing world in which we live.
ABWE congratulates Donna on this special honor! We commend her as a godly woman, redeemed by God’s grace and gifted for His service as an educator, a missionary, and a servant of the Lord.
