He will have compassion on the poor and needy… (Ps 72:13a)

Destruction in Bangladesh

Destruction in Bangladesh

The response to the devastating tsunami of 2004 described in Dr. Loftis’ Partner Update letter gives one exciting example of how God has turned tragedy into triumph in a way only He can do. We are so glad that He has seen fit to use ABWE and its partners and donors in His victory plan. We could detail many other examples if space allowed. As this is being written, we are beginning a response to minister to victims of a cyclone in Bangladesh, and continuing with relief efforts following an earthquake in Peru. Over the past fifteen years we have used food, water, medical supplies and services, building materials, and cash to meet the needs of people in Bangladesh, Peru, Japan, Nicaragua, Haiti, Jamaica, Grenada, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania, Kosovo (Serbia), India, Thailand, Indonesia, Iraq, Liberia, Bosnia, Colombia, and even New Orleans in the United States. We have been able to help them recover from disasters such as cyclones, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, fires and war. Missionaries, volunteers from the United States, Canada, and other nations, and local partners have all participated in our efforts. Donors like you have supplied millions of dollars to fund these efforts.

THANK YOU!

And the lives of the needy He will save. (Ps 72:13b)

Rebuilding in Peru

Rebuilding in Peru

Every effort has been an expression of the church being Christ’s presence in the world. His compassion has shone brightly, and He has received the glory. Because every relief program includes opportunities for beneficiaries to hear the gospel, much fruit has resulted. And because our missionaries and local partners follow up with intentional discipleship, much fruit remains. It is probably safe to say that hundreds of active communities of faith exist today primarily because of relief efforts, and even more churches have increased their impact in their communities.

PRAISE GOD!

With time, it seems the frequency of disasters has increased. Often localized tragedies don’t get the attention and support of internationally reported events like the 2004 tsunami. In such cases, we still help as we are able. May we ask you to consider becoming a partner with us in this ministry of compassion? Our ABWE Compassion fund supplies funds for smaller efforts where fundraising is not practical, or to advance funds quickly in a tragedy, before gifts arrive. Your special gift during this year-end time of giving will enable us to be ready for any opportunity. Even better, pray about becoming a regular donor to relief. We can assure you that your gift will make a difference in lives after a tragedy and for eternity.
