Choosing Christ in the Middle East
Parents and spouses make decisions every day that affect other members of the family unit. What will we eat for dinner? Where will we vacation next summer? What church will we attend? But no decision has a more profound effect on the family unit than the one made by a Muslim parent and spouse who chooses to follow Christ. For many Muslims, men and women alike, the decision to follow Christ means instant rejection and persecution from grandparents, parents, siblings, a spouse, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins. This rejection and persecution could lead to separation and children being raised in a single parent household. It can also mean the loss of work, favor in the community, and in extreme cases, loss of life.
For a little over a year, Christian workers in the heart of the Middle East have been sharing the gospel with a young father and husband who has been a follower of Islam for over 25 years. Recently, this young man had the opportunity to see the Jesus film. He wept as Jesus forgave the prostitute who washed His feet with her hair. He says he believes Jesus was the ram that died for the sins of the world and that He died, was buried, and rose again. He wants God to show him the right path. Please pray for this young man and many other young men and women who want to choose Christ, but are afraid of the consequences.
