Pinwheels, balloons, and gospel tracts
Bauru's 110th Anniversary in the Park was an outstanding opportunity for an evangelistic outreach in the community. Every year the schedule of this big event is packed full with lots of activities and shows around town. For some time the Bauru team has wanted our two ABWE churches to have an evangelistic outreach and become better known in the area. This year's birthday in the park was just that opportunity.
Working together, the churches set up a booth and gave away balloon animals and pinwheels with the churches’ logos on them. Along with the gifts for kids, they handed out gospel tracts that included invitations to the church services. While giving the children pinwheels or balloons, the team had opportunities to talk with the parents and hand out the tracts and invitations to church.
Each evening while making pinwheels and in the morning before they went to the event, the team prayed together, asking God to use this activity to reach people for Him. They planned to go until five in the afternoon, when the 110 meter cake (a meter for each year in Bauru's history) was cut and distributed, but once word spread about our free gifts, the lines by the church booth were huge, and by two in the afternoon all the gifts and 2,000 tracts were gone. People endured the long lines and were willing to talk while they waited.
Blue pinwheels were everywhere around town. In the words of Bill Spoelhof, "The results in the lives of people we must leave with the Lord."
Please pray with the Bauru team, composed of Bill and Sue Spoelhof, Dave and Val Smallman, Tim and Andrea Blazer, and Sue Lodico, that God would bless their efforts and give the increase.
