Robbed!Dave and Melanie Woodard

Peru —

We were coming home from the doctor’s office when our taxi driver stopped the car. Suddenly, three men jumped in the taxi, grabbed us, and covered our eyes. They drove us around for about an hour before stopping. Then, they took our wedding bands, watches, about $80, and cell phone. They threatened to hurt us if we didn’t give them our ATM machine cards and PIN numbers. They ended up taking about $1,200.

Amazingly, we sensed God’s help and an incredible peace through the entire ordeal. We prayed, sang, and quoted Scripture. Finally, we were able to share the gospel with them and give one of them a copy of the book of John. One man scoffed and another other asked, “Do you think God could really change me?”

We finally got back home at about 10:30 p.m., shaken up but thankful for God’s protection.
