Years ago when I was a teenager, I knew a guy named Art Nelson. Art was trying to encourage me to have a quiet time or to spend time alone with God, either in His Word or in prayer each day. Every time I would see Art, the first thing he would ask me was, “So, what did you read in your quiet time today?” It was a question that I have remembered for a long time. And I want to ask the next generation the same question: “So, what did you read in your quiet time today?”
When Art first started asking me this question, I didn’t know what a quiet time was, but then I learned that quiet time is when you get alone with your Bible, read it seriously, and then pray. I was not to rush my way through my Bible reading. Art wanted me to write down my thoughts and try to apply what I was reading in God’s Word to my life. Art taught me that a time alone with God every day is very important!
Years later, I still have my quiet time, and I still love to get alone with God in His Word.
On our website, http://www.globalvisionforkids.com, I have a Bible reading calendar. You can use it to begin seeking God today.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).
