Gunshots and PrayerLori Smith

Papua New Guinea —

At 3:30 a.m., one of our prayer supporters was awakened with a sense she should pray for us. Later she emailed us to find out how we were doing and what might have happened.

We were shocked and amazed.

I had been at a hospital in Papua New Guinea helping a neighbor identify his nephew, who had been shot by the police while he and his friend were robbing a local store. Suddenly, the police came running into the hospital with guns and started to beat up some of the family. Then, two men angrily put the barrels of their guns in my stomach. Fortunately, they soon calmed down and let us go.

All of this took place when our friend woke up in the middle of the night to pray.
