Harold Amstutz

Dr. Harold Amstutz went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 6, 2011. He is the father of current ABWE Board member, Dr. William Amstutz.

Dr. Amstutz pastored two churches in Michigan for a total of 10 years, following seminary. In 1956 ABWE asked him to join them as the Candidate and Deputation Secretary at the home office, then located in Philadelphia, PA. Harold traveled around the world speaking and visiting missionaries. He screened ABWE’s missionary candidates and conducted candidate classes. Beginning in 1978 Dr. Amstutz served as the Administrator of Research and Writing until he retired from the mission in 1993.

Harold was known for his love for reading and authored several books and numerous articles on missions. He also authored several books including: Church Planter's Manual, Prepare to Endure, Valued Heritage and Veritable Harvest, as well as books in the Insight Series. He also oversaw the publishing of the Insight Series project.

Harold and his wife, Helen, moved to Cedarville in 1993 following ABWE moving it's mission headquarters to Harrisburg, PA. While in Cedarville they enjoyed being near family, fellowshipping at Grace Baptist Church, and attending many games, concerts, and functions at Cedarville University. Harold has three children: Lynn, Bill, and Kent; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, Cedarville, Ohio on Saturday, August 13 at 3 pm with visitation at 2 pm.
