Reaching the Slum Children of India

Amount Still Needed: Ongoing Need

Country: India

Last updated 3/18/10

The poverty of families who live out their days in the slums or on the streets can be overwhelming to most of us who are accustomed to endless “creature comforts,” but our teams working in South Asia have accepted the challenge and are committed to providing nutritional, educational, and spiritual resources for children and families existing below the poverty line.  These teams have initiated a special ministry to slum children in India but have been limited by available funds.  Despite their own poverty, believers in churches in India do all they can; however, it is not enough.  In the same spirit as Paul’s plea to Greek churches to help the poor in Jerusalem (see 2 Cor. 8, 9), we can be an encouragement to these faithful brothers and sisters in their efforts to show the love of Christ.

The grants committee which oversees ABWE’s Care for the Children fund has offered a matching gift to assist these efforts.  They will match all donations up to $5000 in response to this month’s donor letter.  The total will be sent to our partners for the ministry in India.
