Chile Earthquake Relief Fund

Amount Still Needed: Ongoing Need

Country: Chile
Region: South America

Last updated 3/3/10

ABWE has served in the country of Chile since 1953, planting dozens of churches, ministering to the hearing impaired and educating generations of Christian leaders through theological education. Chile is close to our heart, as it is home to the largest concentration of ABWE missionaries serving in Latin America.

By God’s gracious sovereignty, ABWE’s staff and their families were unharmed by the massive earthquake that struck on February 27, 2010. Unfortunately, many ABWE partner churches, Chilean Christians, and their non-believing neighbors have been severely impacted. It is estimated that nearly 2 million residents are homeless. Extensive damage has been reported to many church buildings and houses and area infrastructure.

ABWE’s national Chilean churches are leading prayer efforts in their villages and towns. National pastors and deacons are working to get food and supplies to hard-hit areas and encourage those who have suffered great losses.

ABWE believes that there is a tremendous potential in Chile for reaching people for Christ by addressing both the immediate and long-term needs created by this disaster. In response, we have established the “Chile Earthquake Relief Fund.”

ABWE is currently working with its partners on the ground to determine the most appropriate use of these resources.  Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Please consider giving a life-saving donation today.
