Events at ABWE

ME Conference General Information

Everyone attending the conference, including those commuting, must register.

Please read this page carefully before you register for ME. A registration link is provided at the bottom of this page.

ABWE will have three tracks running simultaneously, July 14–19, on the campus of Messiah College (Pre-Amp Seminar, Missionary Enrichment Training Institute, and Candidate Seminar extension).  Upon registering for your particular conference you will receive a meal and housing package specific to your conference.  It is IMPERATIVE to note that changes cannot be made regarding overnight and meal packages; you cannot add or delete meals or nights on campus.

Meals

EVERYONE who plans to eat on campus MUST be registered for the conference. Children under 12 must be accompanied by parents for all meals.

  1. On Campus Meal Package

    Meal cards are a package plan and include lunch on Monday through breakfast on Saturday.  The registration cost is based on your meal package – you cannot add or subtract meals. A $15 fee will be charged by Messiah College for any meal cards lost during the week.
  2. Off Campus Meal Tickets

    Those staying off campus can purchase meal tickets at the entrance of the Messiah Dining Hall or pre-purchase tickets at check in.

ON-CAMPUS HOUSING: On-campus housing arrangements are a package plan and include housing beginning Monday, July 14, and concluding with checkout by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19. The cost is based on your package—you cannot add or sbtract nights. All singles and couples will be housed in dormitories (with central baths for ladies and men on each floor). Singles registered for double occupancy will be housed with a roommate. Families of three or more will be housed in apartments. The teens are housed in separate dorms from their parents, under adult supervision, unless otherwise requested by the parents. All rooms are air conditioned and tend to be cool (temperatures are set by Messiah College and cannot be adjusted). ALL linens are provided by the college (pillows and blankets included). Each room is equipped with a telephone for local calls. Long distance calls may be charged to a credit card. Coin operated laundry facilities are available on campus. No irons, ironing boards, or hangers are available.

OFF CAMPUS HOUSING: Those desiring to stay in a hotel will be responsible for making their own arrangements. Hotels will require payment at time of checkout (you cannot direct hotel charges to ABWE). A block of rooms for ME Conference attendees has been reserved at the following location. Please identify yourself as a participant in the ABWE ME Conference in order to receive the contracted ABWE rate. Hotel reservations must be made by Friday, June 13, 2008.

Wingate Inn

Keys

Keys will be distributed by Messiah Conference Services at the Conference Services desk during the ABWE registration times. A $55 fee will be charged for any key not returned or lost.

Transportation

ABWE does not provide transportation to or from Messiah College for those traveling by air. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Directions to Messiah College

Dress

Dress code is casual for all participants. For adults, no shorts please. MKs may wear modest shorts.

Recreation

Activities on campus include tennis, volleyball, outside basketball, softball, various table games, and swimming. Swimming will be available Wednesday 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. only. Swimsuits must be modest, no 2-piece swimsuits allowed (children included).

The Third Annual President’s Cup Golf Tournament (best ball scramble format) is open to both men and women. The Liberty Forge Golf Course will host this event. There will be an awards dinner for participants following the tournament. Participants are encouraged to bring clubs for the golf tournament on Wednesday afternoon, July 16, at 1:00 p.m. Your cost for this optional activity is $25 and it can be charged to your account. Limited sets of rental clubs are available at $14 each. Collared shirts are required, and no denim is permitted on the Liberty Forge Golf Course.

MK Ministries

Nursery (ages 0-3 years) – Nursery care will be provided during ALL scheduled adult meetings. The nursery is located in the Eisenhower Campus Center rooms S165-166.

Primaries & Juniors (ages 4-11) – Children’s programs will be provided during ALL scheduled adult meetings in the Hostetter Chapel basement.

Teens (ages 12 and up) – Teens will meet in the Larsen Student Center. The teens are housed in separate dorms from their parents unless otherwise requested.

All MKs are expected to participate in their respective programs. Campus rules prohibit children on campus without parental supervision.

Check-out

ME Conference check-out is Saturday, July 19, after breakfast. Dorm rooms/apartments must be vacated by 9:00 a.m.

This per person package rate includes housing and all meals on campus (beginning with lunch on Monday and concluding with breakfast on Saturday). NO ADJUSTMENTS WILL BE MADE in the package prices.

Payments

As an ABWE missionary, your conference fees have already been deducted from your account. Any optional activities you wish to participate in, such as the golf tournament or ladies luncheon, you will need to pay for personally or from your account at time of check-in on Monday, July 14.

If you are a 2008 appointee, your conference fees have been covered by the Mobilization Department, with the exception of the optional activities.

Conference Check-In

ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY JUNE 1, 2008. Any cancellations or registrations received after June 1 are subject to an additional fee.

Check-in at Messiah College will be on Monday, July 14, from 10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in the Eisenhower Campus Center. Room assignments, keys, and meal cards will be issued at that time.
