Marjory Barnett Miller was born in Hong Kong to Victor and Margaret Barnett, ABWE’s first missionaries to China. She lived all of her childhood in China, speaking two Chinese dialects fluently before she learned English. Among the many incredible experiences Marjory relates in Pearl From the Orient are harrowing escapes from Japanese invaders and Communist insurgents, surviving the war on one meal a day, and helping her parents dispense medical care during epidemics..
