ABWE International Worker Fund: Afghan Initiative

United States

After the US withdrew from Afghanistan in August 2021, the Taliban quickly took control of the country. This left thousands of people exposed to terrorists, and Christians were in danger. Afghan pastors and ministry leaders were persecuted. Others were forced to flee for their lives. Still others gave their all for Christ because of their faith. Families have been separated. Livelihoods lost. And the very fabric of everyday life has been changed forever.

But God is at work.

Through connections only the Lord can make, ABWE Global Family of Ministries has been able to connect with a precious group of these Afghan believers through Live Global and EveryEthne missionaries.

“We cannot go back to Afghanistan because our relatives and the neighbors we lived near know that we are Christian. They would kill us."

It’s the heartbeat of these Afghan believers to serve Christ in ministry, and its our pleasure to provide the pathway for them to do so here in North America since they've had to flee their home country.

We have relocated Afghan brothers and sisters through the Afghan Initiative and have connected them to Afghan communities in the US so they can reach the lost for Christ. And you can have a part!

Individuals, families, and churches sponsoring this ministry are providing support for housing, food, transportation, and ministry expenses for Afghan families to be able to live and serve Christ in the US for the next two and a half years—the duration of the first-term religious worker visa.

Our Afghan brothers and sisters are reaching other Afghans in North America with the gospel through church and outreach opportunities with ABWE missionaries and partner churches. They are using the Good Soil Story of Hope to share gospel-centered lessons with believers still in harm's way back home via secure messaging services. They are intentionally meeting one-on-one with members of the Muslim community to present the gospel and have seen lives changed.

Help our Afghan brothers and sisters continue to reach Afghans here in North America with the hope of the gospel!
